A practical guide to installing purchased fonts and resolving the most common setup problems.
Before installing
- Download the product and extract the ZIP archive.
- Close applications that use fonts.
- Locate the supplied OTF or TTF desktop font files.
macOS
Select the font files, double-click them, and choose Install Font in Font Book. Resolve duplicate warnings before opening your design applications again.
Windows
Select the extracted font files, right-click, and choose Install or Install for all users. Installing for all users can prevent a font from appearing in one application but not another.
Static and variable fonts
Static files provide separate files for individual styles. A variable font can contain a continuous range of supported styles in one file. Install the version required by your software and workflow; avoid installing duplicate versions of the same family unless necessary.
